Here we are at the end of January and I want to update you on where we are with production. The plan was that orders would ship this month, however, with unexpected supply chain delays, two extra rounds of samples to make sure each size fits perfectly in each fabric, and a few holidays thrown in the mix, our production partner is still hard at work.
There was a minor fabric fiasco that took some time to sort out. Everything is fine and the fabric we need is now at our sewing studio, but I'm already searching out a new supplier to ensure a smooth purchase and delivery for next time!
One style of fabric that I had ordered and paid for and was waiting to ship ended up being used for an in house project they did. And it was the last roll of this specific fabric. Obviously, this was a HUGE problem. They tried to explain it away and give me a discount on another type of fabric, no way. After many email exchanges and phone calls with me not taking no for an answer they magically came up with enough fabric for me to fill the pre-orders. This all took time and delayed the delivery of the fabric to the sewing studio.
Another fabric issue resulted in needing a new marker for 2 garments (read about markers here). While this isn't a huge deal, it still takes time and involves another group of people who thought they'd checked our project off their list and had moved on to the next.
Our graders, the people who scale the patterns up and down to create different sizes for each garment, suggested a sample size run to be done before starting production. This means making each garment in each size offered, instead of just 1 sample size. This ensures that each size fits perfectly.
What I love about working with a manufacturer so close to home is that as soon as a new sample is ready, it's in my hands the next day. If they need something from me, they have it the next day. So, while this process feels incredibly slow, with all the steps involved and the different people involved, it's all actually been moving right along.
I want to tell you how much I appreciate your support and patience. I absolutely cannot wait to get your kiddos in these clothes! Thank you for being here with me!
